After months of random exposure to this song, I can’t put it down… It’s bittersweet, with a strong mix of emotions. Messy yet perfect. Not quite rock, but never even glances upon the concept of pop. It’s beautiful.
What’s your favorite band, Max?

Sometimes, the cover knocks it outta the park.
1000 Mona Lisas - You Oughta Know (Cover)
→ Original: Alanis Morissette - You Oughta know
That’s straight up scary.
I love that cover.
This isn’t really typical listening habits for me (I mostly listen to indie rock these days) but I’ve definitely had the Oasis reunion on my mind. I’m also pretty happy that the first dB’s album, Stands for Decibels, is back on Spotify.
This is S-tier stuff. Nice to see Dolby and Soft Boys and XTC (one of my favorite bands of all time) on the list!
Art Brut! I just had Emily Kane stuck in my head last week, funnily enough.
Yeah, me too, but for ten years, nine months, three weeks, four days, six hours, thirteen minutes, five seconds.
Funny, I was recently cleaning out my Crowded House folder, haha. I kept Crowded House’s albums up to 2010, but I then realised I wasn’t really caring that much for Neil Finn’s solo albums or side projects. Only side projects I kept was the Finn Brothers’ Everyone Is Here and 8 songs by 7 Worlds Collide (the collabs with Johnny Marr, Jeff Tweedy, Lisa Germano, Ed O’Brien, Sebastian Steinberg, Sharon and Liam Finn).
Neil Finn is just astonishing in his ability to knock out jangle pop gems one after the other. To this day I’m amazed “Recurring Dream” was a bloody B-side for “Now We’re Gettting Somewhere”, it should’ve been on their first album! It’s one of their best songs.
Well, I like basically 3 XTC albums: Skylarking, that Dukes of Stratosphear compilation Chips from the Chocolate Fireball, and Oranges & Lemons… does that count? ![]()
(I find I end up listening to Dukes of Stratosphear more than standard XTC, lol.)
Nah, I didn’t care for early XTC to be honest. It’s just Skylarking, Oranges & Lemons, and Dukes of Stratosphear that do it for me, that’s it. XD
Drums and Wires, Black Sea, English Settlement, Oranges and Lemons, and Nonsuch are probably my favorites.
I don’t use Spotify, but I’m guessing the “iceberg” images people have been posting are some kind of graphical representation of their listening history on that platform… So, I decided to do an ls * inside my music folder and clean up some bits:

Omitted from the above is the folder of stuff I’ve downloaded from YouTube, which is more random songs sorted into imprecise categories Whereas the above is more organized(every band/Singer listed under the Continental folders I own at least one album on CD from them… though in some cases, it’s just a greatest hits compilation(many of the Country acts) or a Christmas album(Crosby, Sinatra, and Ives).
There’s a name I haven’t heard in a while!
