Status Line, a z-machine interpreter for the Pico-8 platform, has been updated to version 3.0. Standalone executables for Windows, macOS, Linux, and the Raspberry PI are available; these do not require owning Pico-8!
z5 and z8 support, games up to 512K, completely redesigned bold and italic fonts, timed functions and timed input, full “EGA” color support (robotfindskitten is adorable!), and more.
Because the Pico-8 has a very very (VERY!) tiny screen, games which do not offer flexible layouts can look “not their best” sometimes. To that end, when source code is available, I offer hand-modified builds of classic games to look beautiful within the cozy confines of the Pico-8.
Volume 2 has been released concurrently with this update to Status Line and includes Curses, Border Zone, Sherlock, and the Solid Gold Infocom titles.
Lastly, an offline web utility to split large z8 games (up to 512K) into Status Line v3 compatible game files (the Pico-8 equivalent of putting a game onto multiple floppy discs) is also released.
