All games submitted must require the player character to interact with an animal in order to complete the game.

How does work? Do games have to be written within the competition period? Or could they be mostly completed/entire completed before?

Does it count if they play as an animal that interacts with other animals?
Sure thing.
Not to be all rules lawyery or anything, but what counts as an animal? Would an anthropomorphic animal or anime catgirl qualify? I swear I’m NOT just doing this to see if I can get away with making a game that has an anime catgirl in it.
The bar is pretty low here, surely you can just add some actual animal somewhere?

Haha, okay. Wikipedia reliably informs me that insects are animals, so I should definitely be able to figure something out. Actually, wait, do fictional animals count?
I can neither confirm or deny that my idea will be anything remotely similar to this.
Animals with special abilities, mythical animals etc are fine.

Looking at this again, I can’t help but notice that the theme does not specify that it must be a non-human animal.
We were kind of hoping no one would try to push this.
