Please make sure you still share your projects here when you release them, even if they aren’t IF per se. We have an off topics category for a reason, and as folks like Sam Barlow illustrate, we, as a community, tend to follow our own, even if they eventually wander away from IF.
We definitely should have a “Non IF Works by IF Community” topic.
[I made it]
Welcome Michael! Glad to have you here.
Yay, more they/thems!
And thanks to you, we have one now!
Hi! I’m parking_turkeys. I’ve used some Twine, and I’m trying out Inform. I use she/they pronouns. I like art and programming, and I love playing IF!
Outta curiosity, which Twine language did you use? I ended up with Harlowe. XD
I used chapbook because the harlowe docs look really bad on my computer
Hello,
I’m Kade and I’m old. The benefit of this is that I was able to play some of the old school IFs back when they came out. While I’ve certainly dabbled a lot in the more visual side of the gaming genre since, I’ve always tried to keep up with the text based scene as well.
That said, it’s only been the last few years that I really dove back into interactive fiction. I’m currently working on a project of my own and I’ve been jumping on various forums to try get a taste of how others approach the things I’m running into on this journey.
Hence my arrival here. Looking forward to exchanging interesting ideas and bad jokes with you all.
Puns in particular are always welcome here.

Hi! I’m Elyne, I live in the UK. I’ve dabbled in game development and writing since the late '90s, making arcade/educational games and sci-fi stories. Love reading choice-based fiction - it’s super impressive seeing how the field has evolved in my lifetime. I’m fascinated with character and relationship development in games and more generally with story-based motivations. Currently editing my very long romantic fantasy twine novel. I’m using Harlowe - a terrible choice for my use case, but it’s too late to change now.
Welcome !
out of curio, why you consider Harlowe a terrible choice for your specific work ?
Best regards from Italy,
dott. Piergiorgio.

Hi, you can call me Ystra, though it’s a pseudonym. I’m here pretty much to get advice on AIF, so we’ll see if I actually stick with my impulse to write it (I haven’t yet, but have written other things). I write for Twine primarily and have no desire to figure out parser AIF for myself, as it seems way too complicated for my purposes, haha.
Hi everyone, I’ve posted here before but now realize I never introduced myself. I’m CJ (or Chloe), and I’ve been playing interactive fiction for about ten years. I stumbled upon Fallen London, which I still love, and it was my gateway to exploring the IF world at large.
I’m currently co-writing a large Twine-based project that follows the planning and execution of a contemporary art exhibition in a fictional Central American country, with a mixture of humor, mystery, and horror. I hope to submit it to IFComp next year!
Wow! Reading the set-up of this project, I really hope you submit it too.
Welcome. Glad to have you.
Best of luck with the project
Howdy, folks!
I’m Raziel (he/him). I’ve been lurking here for several months now and decided to make an account for ease of bookmarking threads (the state of my Firefox bookmarks is shameful). I don’t know how active I will be with regard to posting, but I’ve already been checking the forum once a day for a long time, so chances are high.
Goosebumps was my introduction to anything remotely “interactive” in the fiction realm. I didn’t come back to anything similar until I stopped doing play-by-post original roleplaying in my mid-20s. It’s been five years now, and I missed writing collaboratively, but didn’t want to deal with the drama common on Proboards and Jcink sites in the 2011-2018 era. That’s when I searched for “games like Fallen London”, which I’d played a lot as a teen, and found Zork. Then I realised there was a name for “games like Fallen London”.
I haven’t published anything (yet); I’ve been learning Twine (Sugarcube format) by turning an old, beloved roleplay thread into a work of interactive fiction. I’ll only be sharing it with my friends who had characters in that thread, so the stakes are low but my enthusiasm and enjoyment for learning Twine is high.
I hope to see you all around more often going forward!
