Thank you!! Here I was imagining it as a grappling hook!
Now to try a thousand ways of phrasing “sharpen machete on whetstone” after restarting back in town after wandering into the boneless horse bathroom too soon…
Grueslayer - I’m having some, I’m thinking, guess-the-verb issues in:
the smuggler’s room with the padlock on the small crate. The coffee cup tells me I have everything I need, but I seem incapable of adjusting the padlock in any way?
Have you checked the cup in this room? It requires an object from elsewhere.
EDIT: Oh wait…
If you’re IN Anchorhead, I think you’re stuck. Just UNDO until you’re not in Anchorhead anymore, or the end of game commands after you die should give you a way to revert to before you got stuck in Anchorhead. (I’m not entirely sure how that works–I’m playing an earlier version than the one that got released!
By the way, the workroom is HUGE. Wandering away to do other stuff is not a bad idea.
[EDIT: Originally I said “bad idea,” which is wrong!] In fact, mathbrush…
I looked at the transcript from when I was testing this room and just “sharpen machete” should work. Once you’ve got the whetstone. I don’t have the whetstone yet, myself.
OK, I may be mistaken–I’m playing a pre-release version and I think they tried to change this particular part of the game in the released version to deal with this particular issue, so don’t necessarily do anything too drastic till you check with someone else. What point are you at exactly?
If you’re at the part where it tells you you’re trapped forever, TAKE BACK should get you back into the laboratory. If you’re trying to figure out what to do in the room, you’ll need an object from elsewhere, and the action you need to take isn’t strongly clued but is an obvious thing to do with that object.
Kind strangers and their guides! Unfortunately I was trying to explore everything step by step and ended up in the horse bathroom without having ever seen a candle. Seems to be impossible to escape at that point…
One of the names will tell you two actions to take.
I don’t remember which name and which actions, but it’s something like “go to the cold world, use Maleth and ulnur, while the other one is go the warm world and use ulnur twice. Something like that
But if you take the one that involved changing temperature and
reverse it (so if my example were correct, going to the warm world and using itnath and ulnur)
And it can never hurt throwing in a Khion or two. Just stop if you die
Blurgh, I thought I tried the variations on that, but maybe I didn’t. I’ll try again when I have time, and when I’ve managed to finish Ivan Roth’s room.
This reminds me of when I got stuck in Hadean Lands because I’d failed to explore an open exit. Hoping that this will give me some momentum on Hadean Lands again, maybe in 2020.
You can look this up in the journal, I think. Something like “LOOK UP JAM IN JOURNAL.” (BTW you will have to look stuff up in the journal to solve the overall puzzle.)
Just keep trying to take it. It’ll come loose eventually. It may take lots of tries.
