Announcing... NEStasia!

A video game adaptation of an IF released in 2022 for an 8-bit console unveiled in 1985? This might be a first in the entire history of the form!

In NEStasia, you control Anastasia the Power Pony, a superheroine on a quest to recover the Crown Jewels from nefarious llama pirates! Play through three pixelated minigames to take back the treasure, and enjoy upbeat chiptune arrangements of the tunes from the original IF game.

Standout features include incredibly difficult gameplay, no save points, pixel-perfect jumps, and limited lives!

Nice tunes!

Thanks! You can find the original soundtrack here.

FYI, FLACRabbit will send the ROMs if you ask via PM. There are a couple of minor video glitches (which don’t affect gameplay) using Nestopia, but I’m told they don’t occur using Mesen.

Probably! The closest I know of is a video game adaptation of an IF released in 2020 for an 8-bit console unveiled in 1989: The Release of Ryan Veeder's Mud Warriors on Gameboy

I hope this becomes a trend!

Okay, I see the date when this was posted, but I really do wish that there were a .nes file of this that I could drop on my RG Cube XX and have a go at…

I feel the similar space is small enough I can re-plug River Rescue Obby, a Roblox videogame spinoff from an IF released in 2024, Dragon of Steelthorne.

The next best thing is the original IF (which really does exist): A Matter of Heist Urgency on IFDB

In the same region, there was also (for real, or at least a demo of) a Game Boy adaptation of Arthur DiBianca’s Excelsior. (Involving the same folks as Mud Warriors.)
