What's one positive/neutral thing that's happened today?

felicitations for the birth of John !!
(sorry, being born in Rome, I can’t felicitate using the first name…)

Best regards from Italy,
dott. Piergiorgio.

The etymology of Alaric is the ruler of all. A strong name indeed! Congrats!

I don’t think even the Romans would disagree with the strength bit, although they might not appreciate the sentiment all too much.

Confirm what Toke says, Romans (as “citizen of the City of Rome”) still not appreciate what Alaric has done (but if major archeological finds in Calabria happens, the issue turn 180° and became “Alaric the Preserver”…)

OTOH, I’m Roman by birth (and on the Tiberine Island, of all places around the Seven Hills…)

Best regards from Italy,
dott. Piergiorgio.

Fun sidenote: The etymology for my government name Tony (=Antonius) Mikael is Praiseworthy Godlike. Not a weak name either by any stretch

edit: Tried to confirm the Antonius bit just now. Not sure where I got praiseworthy from, but the original meaning seems to be uncertain (it’s Etruscan, remains uncracked) but the leading theory is Priceless. Still not bad.

My wife and I are typically ignorant of/indifferent to the etymology of the names we choose… we pretty much just choose names we like the sound of :slightly_smiling_face:

@Piergiorgio_d_errico , I must expose my ignorance but I did not even realize, when we decided on the name, that Alaric was the name of a leader that once defeated Rome…

Speaking of Alaric, he’s about to get his first bath…

Ha, I had the same thought re the historic namesake - I’m sure your Alaric will help rehabilitate the name though! Congratulations, what exciting news

Today’s positive was a nap to start catching up on all the sleep lost to the coach trip

No shame in that! Most people are, it’s related to my field so I like to pick up on that stuff. Alaric sounds awesome whether you know the etymology or not!

My today’s positive is that I registered here to get help (and not keep struggling for myself as I did the past week)

Always a little nervous when it comes to shopping online, but… Fingers crossed that everything goes well, and if the package arrives on time, I’m gonna be the happiest babycat ever with my present to myself soon. :3

Enjoying a nice iced coffee before slugging back a hot one in the summer heat. Typing is so much more of a treat when my nails are so short! Manon and I have made plans for morning writing dates come July, and I’m excited about that.

Very, very pleased to say that we’ve added a new member to our TTRPG campaign. I’ve long heard tantalizing snippets about Grayson’s cast of characters from cross chatter between them and Jinx, and of course- anyone that Jinx finds good company has a rock solid stamp of approval for me: I trust her taste implicitly. It’ll be so exciting to get to discover more about them first hand, and pleasant to spend more time with someone I already find pleasant to hang out with in the Neo-Interactives.

I think I’ve finally cracked my sleep schedule to tip towards more rest than the bare minimum of five hours: the last few days have been super exhausting, and I’ve slept like a rock.

Ignoring the fact that I look like a corpse with this lighting and colour balance, I cracked up when reading the packaging on this: there’s something funnily charming about ‘for vigorous personalities.’
