I finally got around to writing down the first sentence of my new work in progress last night before passing out, and while I’m in the TTRPG session now, I got my first page down in the new notebook for it: and the words are coming out smoothly and without much fuss or friction, which is really lovely. I’ve missed it.
Good news: the spider that crawled up and out of the toilet while I was puking my brains out and face to face with it was probably not a brown recluse.
Bad news: after researching and looking up geographical ranges and comparing pictures, I’m fairly sure it was a long legged sac spider, which while not life threateningly medically significant, has a painful bite, and I need to hunt down and exterminate ASAP.
Lucky break: did not get bit anywhere, though I nearly had a heart attack in the bathroom at the pure shock and fear of it emerging seconds after I stood back up.
Had a nice catchup chat with a friend for about a hour and a half. It was good to hear their voice.
Gyoza for lunch. ^u^
10k PB this morning woop! And now ice cream.
I split my work in progress into two games. As it developed, it made sense to split it up. One is a purely text adventure and the other is an “educational” science based adventure. I am writing the text version in TADS3 / Adv3Lite. The one with media is best written in Inform 7.10, but I may put it on the back burner until new version of Inform drops. It looks like the new inform might have some features I would like to experiment with.
Super curious about this. Hit me up to test it when it’s ready.
Kat is running a Bluebeard gamejam after a late night conversation we had about all of the Bluebeard retellings in interactive fiction.
Been having fun painting.
Will do. Thank you so much for the offer.
Watched the music video for Breezeblocks by Alt-J. Then I tried watching it forwards, and got a completely different story. Very interesting. Would recommend watching the original music video with music, then looking at the spoiler and doing what it says in there. It’s so worth it.
Not a great day but I did just find something within two minutes of starting looking for it, which I’m going to take as a win.
@dee_cooke is it because you have a chaotic mess, or is it because you have trouble seeing things directly in front of your nose (like we men often have)?
Had a nosebleed from 6:00AM to 8:22AM.
It thankfully didn’t break open again when I went to sleep finally. Been devouring sweets.
-----looks up from sifting through the peanut shells----
Huh? Oh…
Here you go:

A sign advertising boiled peanuts points east, into the pavilion.
I have a new nephew! ![]()
That is fantastic! Being an auntie has been one of the joys of my life. All the fun, none of the responsibility. Congrats!
Yay, congrats Jess!
This has largely been my experience – being a parent does mean a significantly higher amount of fun relative to being an uncle, but it’s definitely not proportional to the increased responsibility ![]()
One of our tomato plants has started to bear fruit! Sadly it’s the one we bought as a young plant rather than one of the ones we grew from seed, all of which have proven to be temperamental at best, but hey, at least we might have a non-zero amount of tomatoes by the end of the summer.
It’s not (hugely) chaotic, I’m just very good at finding sensible places for things to be put away and then forgetting where those sensible places are!
Today’s positive thing: got to run with my husband as our training plans overlapped.
A newphew!
