Does the game have an ending? Something specific to do, a location to reach, that triggers an end-state? Or is it the point that you are stuck in time and place with your memories?
It does have an end!
It involves returning somewhere rather than continuing your journey.
Specifically, somewhere in the village.
You might need to go everywhere else first though, I didn’t check that.
You need to go back to the blacksmith’s forge where you’re working - I believe it’s IN from the village location south of where you start.
Ah!
The village was the first location I visited. I tried ENTER HOUSE (“You can’t see any such thing.”) and ENTER HOUSES (“You can’t enter that.”) there. When that didn’t work, I mentally crossed out the location as [Visited].
Thanks.
From an author’s perspective, remembering that (in Inform) IN and OUT are considered directions, and the yucky ways the commands ENTER and EXIT also interact with them, has been pretty grouchy-making for me. It was the source of my only oversight in my Cragne Manor contribution. That was the moment that embedded the issue in my mind.
Now that I’m 11 chapters into my WIP, I am super cognisant of it. That’s why I tried IN pretty quickly in valley of glass once the normal directions were exhausted.
