The oldest known disambiguation, circa 1965

being a trained historian, from a just-uploaded file in bitsavers.org I noted what seems the oldest known transcript of a disambiguation, 1965 vintage:

http://bitsavers.org/pdf/sds/9xx/940/ucbProjectGenie/Genie_Story_1965.tif

[SOLVED: now shows only the link, as intended]
(my apologies if this 1M big TIFF mess with your browsing… how to block, at posted message level, the automatic display of pics from links ?)

of course, predating Crowther000 by a full decade, the parsing was in the context of a conversational online system help system… but the transcript shows that the disambiguation mechanism, as we know it, was fully implemented in this conversational (as parsing, from user’s perspective, was known back then) interface of nearby 60 years ago.
