Starlane features a cross-platform UI (using the Qt framework) that should support all multimedia features supported by the ADRIFT 5 Runner: fonts, colors, text alignment (left/right/center), images, sounds, secondary windows (that the player can dock to the main window and arrange as they see fit). A Glk frontend is also part of the project.
My perception is that Spatterlight is significantly more feature complete than Starlane, but Starlane has a version that runs in-browser, which is cool.
The QT Front-end is so close to being accessible with the NVDA screen reader. In the text area, the arrow keys only read the final line. I can read some of it using screen review, but not everything. If the text area could be reprogrammed to allow the arrow keys to work, maybe with automatic text output to a screen reader via an option, Etc., then that would be stellar. But, I suspect the browser and console versions will have no problems. Speaking of which, I would love to use the console version, but the source won’t build on Windows or WSL, and the binaries shipped on GitHub don’t include the console version. If it were linked against WingLK, then it could work with the existing NVDA IF Interpreter add-on, which would be just as good, but QT is intended to be the main front-end. As for how to get screen reader speech output, I highly recommend Prism, a platform-independent speech library.
