Hi, all — I’ve wrapped up the coding and writing for my game and survived a few non-IF friends trying it out, and I’d love to get some playtesters.
It’s a medieval murder mystery; you play a young monk investigating the death of your mentor. It’s set in the year 1346, I’ve tried to work in a good deal of theme around this period. The working title is “Our Lady of Thorns”.
It’s written in Inform6/PunyInform.
What I’m most looking for right now:
- do players understand what they’re supposed to do?
- are the puzzles too easy/too hard?
- is there a point where everyone feels “stuck”?
There are built-in hints which progress to very explicit help. I also have a walkthrough.
Later on, I’d like to do some testing for:
- the writing itself
- missing responses, had-to-pick-a-verb, etc
- minor world inconsistencies
Of course, if people testing in the first round discover any of those, I’d love to know. But since the first round might result in moving things around, I don’t want anyone to spend too much time trying everything they can do to everything, since the code might change before release, depending on early feedback.
Please let me know (here or via PM) if you might be interested.
I really appreciate any help. Thanks!
