Playing "Bee" (itch.io) on iPhone browser—game progress lost w/ autorefresh

Hello all,

This isn’t an IF issue as much as a browser issue, but I thought other people must have solved this problem.

I’ve started playing Emily Short’s Bee twice or thrice on my iPhone, using Brave and Safari browsers, but I keep losing my progress in between sessions. I understand that browsers have an autorefresh setting somewhere, but I am not sure whether this is the culprit and how I can fix this problem.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Something must be cleaning your cache between sessions

Safari only keeps localStorage for 7 days. Would you be waiting that long before play sessions?

Safari has an odd interaction with itch.io’s frames. It loses the localStorage for the embedded frame as soon as you quit (not after seven days). I noticed this when playing Type Help.

(This may be a consequence of specific Safari privacy settings – I haven’t tried tweaking them.)

You can avoid this particular problem by loading the iframe URL directly.

no, it was maybe one day apart, and I didn’t even quit the app as long as I remember.

The game doesn’t have autosave so refreshing the page will erase progress; does the manual save/load feature not work?

sorry, I meant that saved slots disappear, so I lose the saved progress.

Okay, I googled this and found it, thanks!

Found what?
