Does Garry ever sleep? He’s so prolific. Serious about the craft, that guy.
I assume he sleeps one hemisphere at a time, the other always awake and writing parser games, like a text-game making dolphin.
Wait, so he’s from the show H2O?
I am waiting with a lot of expectation.
Warrigal is just submitting a small game to support the comp. (Well, maybe not all that small.) It’s something a little bit different to usual, but still a retro-style puzzle fest. It has a religious theme, but the overlying puzzle is inspired by my escape room experience. And, no, it is not an escape game. Most of it occurs outdoors in the church grounds of a small French village church and the surrounding forest. Think Indiana Jones meets Father Brown.
I’m just putting the finishing touches to my game before submitting it so that’s at least +1 game at some point. Right now, I’m just running through it a few (dozen) times in case some annoying bug has crept in at the last moment.
I couldn’t stand the wait anymore. I just entered.
The last day is here!
I am going to enter my game, but I want to apologize to everybody in advance, because it may have problems. I have had one of the worst months of my life, and this is one of the worst weeks of my life, as we are moving my Mom to assisted living on Monday and it’s been an absolute train wreck in every way you can imagine. We waited too long and now we’ve got a raving lunatic who is wandering at night, and it’s an emergency and everything has to get done in a few days, and we’ve been working overtime on all the legal, medical, practical, and emotional issues here. Not much time for extended focus on anything else.
So I have not been able to smooth and polish the game as I would like to, but if I get the game out it will make me feel like I can accomplish things right now, even if they’re not perfect. If there are bugs, let me know and I’ll correct them as I can during the comp.
I’ve really been looking forward to this comp-- I’ll need everyone’s games to help keep my mind occupied next week in my first days of this big transition.
So sorry to hear about your Mom. It is a very difficult time. My mother was proud, capable and strong person. Alzheimer’s took that away from her. It was so difficult for her and the family. Stay strong for her.
I’m also sorry to hear about your mum. Alzheimer’s is a really cruel disease that not only affects those afflicted by it, but all their loved ones.
That happened with my grandmother. Maybe not so much the raving lunatic, but certainly the wandering and the abusing you when you found her and tried to take her home. Very sad.
On the good news front, I got my game submitted yesterday (it’s a PunyInform game) and I’ve just managed to load a Parchment version, so you’ll be able to play it online. I’m about to go to bed, so I’m looking forward to seeing what greets me in the morning, just 6 hours from now.
Oh, good. I don’t think I’ll be able to play any games until Tuesday or Wednesday, but your games are always at the top of my list.
It’s good to remember that this is something that has happened to so many people, and that they all get through it, so I will, too. It helps to know I’m in a very big club, even if it’s a really crappy one.
Ugh, sorry to hear that – I had an aunt who went through something similar, and it was so so tough on everybody. Hope you’re all holding up, and glad ParserComp is there to take your mind off of things!
(Also, geez, ParserComp is here? …I am behind on so much stuff, but the temptation to start up a review thread immediately is so so strong!)
I’m sure it will be wonderful and I’m really very thrilled that you’re going to enter a game, in spite of the difficulties life is throwing in your way. Can’t wait to see it.
Half-man, half-dolphin: the unstoppable Garry Francis comes up with the goods again!
It’s [so nearly] here!!
This is one of those rare times when giving into temptation is entirely the right and proper thing to do. Get ready to review, Mike!
One hour left for submissions and eleven submissions.
The trophies are under wraps and ready to be polished.
I’m so excited. This is one of my favourite comps in the calendar
As in previous years, I’ll be away camping and hiking with my girlfriend and son in the first weeks of July. I’ve been less engaged on the forum and in IF reviewing anyway for the past weeks. I’ve been playing Roadwarden in casual mode for entertainment and avoiding anything that has to do with deadlines and responsibilities beyond my immediate circle of loved ones.
I do have good hopes of coming back from vacation refreshed and ready to play some ParserComp games.
Have fun, see you all in a few weeks!
Have a lovely holiday - watch out for the semi-wild cows!
