New authoring tool for audio-first IF (AudioGames) - WIP

Hey there!

At PlayNook, we create AudioGames: audio-first branching narratives (something in between audiobook and IF).

Since this format has very specific audio-first needs, we built our own tools and infrastructure to create AudioGames and publish them on our mobile platform. Now that we’ve reached a solid stage, we’re excited to open it up to others as well. Therefore, PlayNook is opening early adopter sign-ups for our Creator Program, a space for creating and publishing AudioGames.

Important: we’re not publicly live yet. Right now, the platform is in invite-only beta, and we’re looking for early adopters who want to help shape the product with us. On March 16 (6:00 PM CET) we’re hosting a kickoff webinar with a live demo + Q&A. If you’re curious, sign up and we’ll send the link and next steps!

Creators, authors, dnd masters.. anyone is welcome of course! You’ll get no-code tools to write and structure branching stories- with built-in validation; production and review workflow and access to a database of human-made ambience sound effects and original soundtracks + support from our creative team; a revenue-share model tied to performance, keeping ownership of your original story.

We’d love to have you on board! Thank you very much for this space  here’s the link to pre-register.

How do you do the voices? Is it tts or with voice actors?

I do see narrators credited by name for all of their current works.

Thanks. According to the older thread, it uses voice actors.

Yes, we collaborate with professional voice actors for all our PlayNook Originals and partnerships. We started with tts for testing purposes, but now we’re re-recording basically all the AudioGames.

Regarding the community AudioGames, we’ll try our best and give the option to choose to each creator, helping them getting in contact with professional VA.
