@Zephyr has sent me a map of the full game, which I thought would be fun to post here. To avoid spoilers I’ve removed object and puzzle notes and zoomed out enough that room names are hard to see, but I thought it was really cool to see the overall structure:

That’s amazing! You should upload this to the IFArchive and then to IFDB, but with spoilers. How many rooms is that, in total?

I counted 234 in this map. In the code it’s slightly different because some rooms that you visit multiple times are different rooms in the code.

I think the map creator mentioned that having spoilers would have made their experience less fun, so I won’t upload this to ifdb, but of course if any player wants to upload something they made they’re free to!

I’m stuck with the caimans at the zoo. I can lure the scarred one out and it goes into its nest, but if I lure another one out, then it always fights with it and leaves them all back at the torso. How do I get them all away from it? Here’s my save (V1), for reference.

Also, I went to the spinning ships and fired all the cannonballs, and now I don’t seem to be able to control the speed. Am I stuck here or is there something else?

The caimans are just a famous puzzle in disguise. It’s the wolf, goat, cabbage puzzle. The scarred caiman is the goat.

For the ships, each cannon has a little crank you can turn.

Alright, I’m onto the final area I need to do, the monuments, but I got myself stuck in the library. The game says the gas is mostly beating the mold, but everything I try to interact with is still covered in it. I’ve tried to adjust the air flow by opening and closing the office door, but that doesn’t have any effect, with the gas levels staying mostly the same. I can’t leave the area, remove the sulfur pack, or turn off the fumigator. What can I do here?

Looks like you’ve been trapped in a bug.

There is a scene called Fumigation scene. It’s supposed to end after 10 minutes have passed.

Yours isn’t ending. That was an issue before with other scenes, and it was because sometimes the game ‘skips’ a turn, so it doesn’t turn off at the right moment.

I fixed that for other season by changing the ending condition to be “>”.

For some reason, this particular scene seems to be stuck for you, even though it already has a ‘>’ condition:

Fumigation-scene is a recurring scene. Fumigation-scene begins when the sulfur-dispenser is switched on. Fumigation-scene ends when the time since Fumigation-scene began > nine minutes.

So that’s not the issue, even in version 1.

And there shouldn’t be any problem with the scene infinitely looping, since it would print some new text every time it loops.

So I have absolutely no idea what’s going on here. The only possibility I can even conceive of is if you started the fumigation scene right before the game’s internal clock of around 4 am, because right then the clock ‘ticks over’ and time doesn’t work right. But I just tried testing the game by setting the world time to 3:55 and starting the scene right before the ‘break’, and it didn’t work.

So I honestly have no clue how to ever fix this. Is it possible that you turned off the flow of time at some point?

You’ll probably just have to load a previous save. You can technically get out of that room by using one of the random cheat codes I have once you gather all your thing (XYHAUNT works). You don’t need anything from the library except information, so it’s not important you beat it in this run (although you might want to load an earlier save and beat the library to get that info, since it includes a math formula you’ll need later).

I’ll keep looking at your save file but I don’t know how it’s physically possible that it’s stopped changing. Sorry!

Edit: I checked and went out of the Library on your save with the cheat and went to the room under the cabin that has a clock dial. Time is still passing, somehow, although it is right around 4 am, so I really wonder if it was a 4 am bug of some kind.

Ah, thank you! A lot of the stuff you need to solve the later puzzles, like the exact math equation to enter, is important. I used the cheat to get out but solved it with a different save.

I’m pretty close to finishing everything, but I’m stuck on Monsters Inside. I built the seesaw, and I was able to lockpick Frankenstein’s treasure shelf but not take anything from it. I think what I have to do now is get across the pit, but the bar is too far away.

Edit: Thanks, the solution below worked! I was able to finish the game, and I’d be glad to help out anyone who’s stuck on it.

IIRC, the puzzle for the bar is interesting. I had a bug when doing this part regarding when you place the bar (or the plank?) in the alcove (I think it was?) you can hold it and have it in the cove at the same time (@mathbrush). It was weird. But this puzzle requires …

  • something long and stable. Not the rail. You should have it, if you’ve made the seesaw.

  • something past the stone block to the north?

  • the plank. Put it on the rail, not the wheel. Get on the plank. Wait for the clone to get on (assuming you’ve met the clone), then go east. Turn the wheel. You’re ok now. I can’t remember the rest!

I’m a little stuck in the haunted house. Also I suspect there might be a minor bug, but I don’t know if it’s a critical one. I have also done most of the wax museum but have entered no other rifts yet.

I can’t find the last item to help the wolfman. I already applied the handcuffs and gave him the aconite/wolfsbane. Then he told me to find another thing and stop giving him random stuff from Maya’s room.

I think I have helped everyone else in the house, so I have five of the seven tokens. I know what to do with the tokens once I have them all, so I should be able to finish helping the wolfman without going to another rift, I think.

The bug is that the wolfman is not described as restrained in any way even though I already handcuffed him to the pipe. He’s still described as pacing the room, and the handcuffs are nowhere in sight. It said he tucked the wolfsbane away, so I don’t expect to see that, but the handcuffs should be visible somehow.

Current inventory: Precinct 13 Stamp, Blue Lacunic dictionary, novel, rucksack, recorder, 5 tokens.

Do I have what I need or have I missed something?

You’re missing one thing:

The fencing mask.

I know he knocks the idea of getting stuff from Maya, but that’s mostly to hint the wolfsbane.

If you X HANDCUFFS they should still be there, but the pacing is definitely a bug. Thanks!

Thanks! That worked. I think I got tripped up because of the way showing most items to the wolfman gets no reaction, but showing him the handcuffs (and possibly the wolfsbane? I don’t remember, but using that was obvious) was enough to automatically use them on him. I showed him the mask and nothing happened, so I traded it to Frankenstein, not realizing I could trade nearly anything to him.

Hmm, that’s good to know! I can change that. I already fixed the disappearing handcuffs bug (the code only checked if the handcuffs had disappeared, am when it should have checked that they were being worn by the workman). Hi! I can’t seem to finish the Security Room puzzle. I don’t think I get the rift mechanic. it’s the puzzle in octagon ADVENTURELAND where you pull lever A. it’s been bugging me very much. if i could have some help it would be much appreciated!

Hint for those struggling with crystals! They will be numbered in order you’re supposed to get them in.

(the answer to this is: get through that gate. collect wax! and you’ll know what to do…

All of these are directly related and it’s the hardest puzzle in the game. The first person to play the game gave me a transcript with around 8000 moves and fully 1/3 of them (thousands of moves) were on this puzzle. Most bug reports or people getting stuck has been on this puzzle.

I’ve made it a bit simpler since then. I’d start with the monitors as that’s the first step!

For that, have you looked at the bodies in the graveyard?
