As the clock nears the first quarter mark, Spider and Web has had the most explosive start of any game yet in its headline bout against Violet. The legendary parser-based spy thriller currently holds a 16 point lead against the popular one-room comedy hailed for its high-personality narrative voice.
In a separate match where two other espionage-themed works square off, Spy Intrigue started strong, making four goals while opponent Inside the Facility played a waiting game. However, the limited parser challenger has now gotten off the starting block and is pressing hard. With both sides racking up goals, the gap between challenger and defender has closed to just 6-5.
A similar game of catchup is playing out in The Weight of a Soul vs. With Those We Love Alive, where the famed Twine title – after its own tremendous start giving it a lead of 6-0 – is now seeing the scales swing back the other way as its rival conducts its own unbroken scoring streak, leaving it lagging by two.

We are now just past the halftime mark, and “Close” is the name of the game for Division 3. In fully half of the matches, only a single point separates challenger from defender: Inside the Facility vs. Spy Intrigue, Stay? vs. Toby’s Nose, The Weight of a Soul vs. With Those We Love Alive, and Slouching Toward Bedlam vs. Will Not Let Me Go.

In other matches: Spider and Web still leads Violet by 16 despite the defender gaining a point, The Spectators has pulled ahead of The Axolotl Project and leads 4-2, Repeat the Ending has been accumulating a steady trickle of votes and now leads by 8 against Magical Makeover, and Cannery Vale remains comfortably four points ahead of Sub Rosa in a match that has seen no new scoring this quarter.

Moving past the third quarter mark, Division 3 has proven to have some of the closest contests yet, with two races in a dead heat. Both Spy Intrigue and With Those We Love Alive started exceptionally strong but have since slowly lost ground to respective challengers Inside the Facility and The Weight of a Soul, and both are now running neck-and-neck with their opponents into the final quarter.
After edging slightly ahead near the start of the quarter, Stay? has fallen behind and now lags Toby’s Nose by two.
Both Slouching Toward Bedlam and Will Not Let Me Go continue to score, with the former having kept and extended its lead slightly, leaving it two ahead.
The Spectators has added another point on the board, putting it three up over defender The Axolotl Project and positioning coach Amanda Walker for a second upset victory in this tournament.
