Announcing… the 2025 ECTOCOMP results! The official ranking is now up on IFDB:
And posted on the Itch page:
The games’ scores can be viewed in this spreadsheet: ECTOCOMP 2025 Results - Google Sheets. (These are the “raw scores” from Itch—that is, the average score for each game, NOT the adjusted score that Itch calculates based on the number of ratings. See discussion from last year here.)
Congratulations to all, and thanks so much to everyone who entered, played, rated, and reviewed! We’ll see you next year!
Congrats to everyone! I’m incredibly flattered to have placed so highly in a year that was so competitive. I didn’t manage to play very much in the English LGG category (looking forward to getting to some of those later!) but I played most of the LPM games and so many of them were excellent. People around here can really do a lot with 4 hours!
I’m also happy to see Detective en habitación cerrada win the Spanish category; it was definitely a stand-out for me!
Is there any chance the number of votes each game received could be added to the spreadsheet? Given the change in score calculation I’m curious to see how that may have affected placements and that’s the kind of thing that makes my nerd brain happy to play with.
Congratulations to all the participants and especially the winners - this was a really strong year and probably the best Ectocomp ever! (So far)

So, uh, what do I say? I’m still quite dazed because seeing my name twice in the top 5 felt like having a flashbang go off in my head (there’s that high-pitched ringing in my ear…) so, forgive me if I’m going to sound incomprehensible.
First of all, congrats to the LGG winners (I didn’t play your games but I’m entirely sure your wins are more than deserved) and congrats to everyone who participated (it’s rough to put out a game out there in general and you should be proud, regardless of your placement).
Second, thank you to the following:
@Nulla obviously for proposing a collab and having fun with it when we were making NOTHING IN MY VEINS, it was a really great time; also, for reading through the lamp… and telling me that this is something
Helen and Prince Rosario, who are not on this forum, but read through the lamp… and told me that it is something
everyone who played the lamp…, …VEINS…, and Loveless and listless, which I maybe didn’t write for but I tested so I kinda feel responsible for that one too
everyone who followed my progress updates which I scattered throughout a couple of places
Ethel Cain, whose Pulldrone I used to measure time while writing
my cats, who did nothing to improve the writing but also didn’t interrupt that much either
Again, thank you everyone. Hope I can see you next year (I have a streak of 4th places now… can we do it again in 2026?)
PS: Postmortem for the lamp… is almost done. Hope I can get it to you this week!
Thanks again to everyone who ran the comp and entered this year. I think ectocomp is my fav comp of the year
It’s still findable, they just hide it so you have to know where it is. If you open a private window with the jam address and then /unrated, the number of votes and comments for jams are there
I enjoyed participating. I’m happy with the mid pack finish but I also got a lot more engagement than past years.
Also I had another silly goal: to have 2 entries get at least as many votes combined as the top vote-getter. It was a tie! (21 + 20 = 41.) So that was neat.
Thank you and congratulations to all the winners and all participants!
I am also happy to see Everyday I have emails at the top, because I enjoyed it a lot.
With this Ecto I have felt welcomed by the English community even if my entry was for the Spanish category so I want to express my gratitude, especially to Math Brush and Emery Joyce who were so kind to make the effort to play the game and review it. And now I plan to enjoy the English games I didn´t have the time to play before.
Thank you to the organizers for the wonderful edition and congratulations for the huge number of votes for this year.
I’m amazed that I came fourth in LGG, with a game that I was just pottering about with at the start of October! And the scores between the top games were so close! (If my Dad had left the rating he promised me, I might have been third ).
I loved both Warden and Stage Fright (and was too intimidated to try Kinophobia), so I’m happy to lose to them.
Congratulations to Naarel, Tabitha and baezil and Strollersoft for your winning games, and to all the entrants!
My life is pretty hectic at the moment, but I did manage to play and rate a few of this year’s games, and even write a few reviews. The overall quality was excellent! Unfortunately I didn’t get to any of the winners, but I’ll be sure to go back and play them soon!
I keep thinking I’ve replied to this! What an amazing crop of entries this year. I really enjoyed playing these, and the winners are very deserving. Can’t wait until next year; hopefully I won’t miss the deadline this time…
