So, I found this advertisement for an upcoming device that plays audio based interactive fiction. Pretty retro, eh? It’s apparently geared towards people with disabilities. It’s a nice idea, but I think it’s going to be hard to sell it, at least to individuals. Maybe some organizations like nursing homes might be interested. What do you think?
I have already seen audio-based interactive fiction on the Alexa / Echo Dot devices by Amazon.com. Given how inexpensive the Echo Dot is, I would say breaking into this niche market with custom hardware might be tricky. Breaking into it by providing a for-pay service that works on the Echo and other devices like cell phones might be viable. I guess? A lot of people do like audio-books, why not audio-IF?
