Thought I’d post this here rather than in Looking For Collaborators, since most of the folks there (a tiny number to start with) are likely looking for Inform or Twine co-authors.
I’m thinking it might be fun to work together with another author on an adv3Lite game with a goal of being ready in time for next year’s IFComp. I once collaborated on a game with Eric Eve, many years ago, and we were able to work well together, so I know it’s possible. (That was “Mrs. Pepper’s Nasty Secret.”)
I’m an old-school puzzle adventure guy, but I’m open to the idea of enhancing this framework with some other styles, or with multimedia. I’m not opposed to writing a game with conversation menus, but I prefer ask/tell because it’s more puzzly. adv3Lite will do suggested conversation topics, which is a nice compromise.
I have one half-baked idea for a light-hearted fun game, but it’s regrettably large. Could be scaled back and streamlined, or maybe you have an idea you’d like to pursue, or maybe we brainstorm something entirely new.
It’s been a couple of years since I wrote a game, but my programming chops should be very adequate. Give me a shout if you’re interested!
I was wondering if you might be interested. Is your email still @hmc.ox? That’s what I have in my email client. I’ll send an email and we can talk about it.
I can only give limited technical collaboration (e.g. lines of code or debugging work), not creative nor artistic, because the target competition is out of question.
Would also be glad to help playtest when ready (before which, I swear dott. Piergiorgio I WILL complete your reviews!). Glad to see you back Jim, I briefly considered reaching out to see if you were a potential TADS IronChIF!
I’m out of the loop. What’s with the IronChIF term? By now, my coding is 3 years of rusty, and I tend to do things the brute force way rather than the elegant, streamlined way, but I’m certainly willing to participate if there’s a reason for it.
It’s a new event inaugurated by @otistdog this fall. A tongue-in-cheek competition styled after the legendary IronChef TV show (original Japanese, and US remake). Each “episode” will feature a different authoring language, with an IRON CHIF (expert in given language) and CHALLENGER (full-of-themselves author or wannabe). Here is the Pilot Episode, and Audience Chatter. Initial call for TADS participants was here, where sadly our IRON CHIF had to decommit.
