Anyway, it’s a super cute program, with really intuitive UI and a lovely little soundbox of background ambiance and click-y type-y sounds that I missed from some older programs I used to use when I was younger. Scrivener will still probably remain my main love, (and StimuWrite isn’t advertised as a full replacement for a word processor anyways, it’s more of a scratchpad, ala Written, Kitten!) but very fun to futz around with.
Got all the writing done for my NeoTwinyJam entry! I really like using StimuWrite as a first draft. I’m gonna let it simmer, and work on a cover and the CSS bits tomorrow, around the Goncharov Girlies TTRPG session- Aurora’s birthday party! Super fun. Plus, an introduction of a new character! And then on Sunday we’re going on a trip out for bubble tea.
To cheer up people who feel bad for health reasons…
>cure disease
Conan the Barbarian pulls his dagger.
"What on earth are you doing, Conan?" the priest said. "You cannot cure disease with a knife!"
"Nothing but a good bloodletting to get the devils out of the blood!" Conan snorts.
"What makes you think devils are involved, Conan?"
"The heat of my body, of course! The fires of Hell are raging through my body!"
"I think I better pray for your wellbeing," the priest replied.
"Praying to the Gods never cured anybody," Conan retorted,
and cut deeply in his arm, letting the blood flow freely.
Depending on what copyright laws apply to you, you may or may not be allowed to read this… The conversation is all mine, the fictional character I borrowed for the occasion is definitely not…
That Conan anecdote reminds me of a TTRPG anecdote I haven’t experienced myself but have heard about: There was a character who was a “Unbeliever” about magic. He saw a mage casting a lightning. He threw himself to the ground and shouted “What a thunderstorm!”
And on-topic: Lovely sunny and warm day today. Went around with shirt only, without jacket.
I am SO jealous. How difficult is the CAD program to learn? I have been thinking about a 3D printer to make lost wax molds for a long time, but I’m afraid of the software learning curve more than I’m afraid of the price.
CAD programs are somewhat independent of the printer, although the one I have is intended for beginners and comes with its own easy-to-use software. There’s also a variety of free CAD models out on the internet so you can use or edit those depending on what you’d like to do.
I’ve done a lot of 3D printing professionally but I’m only dipping my toe into the hobbyist waters, so it’s still a learning experience for me! I can answer more questions via DM if you’d like.
Feeling a lot better physically, (the health debuff has passed) and… waffle fries! As a special little treat to celebrate not hemorrhaging half to death.
We went out- it’s a warm misty day. We picked up some groceries, the mail, and capped it off with a little bubble tea trip. I got a roasted milk tea with brown sugar pearls and cream. Super yummy. The other household meow got a honeydew milk tea with normal pearls and a green tea with grass jelly.
I had been making candles by aggregating leftover wax from other candles and scented wax melts, but today I actually bought some new wax and dye and scented oil and made some new candles from scratch using some teeny baby-food size jars my friend gave me:
I finished up all of the work on my Neo Twiny Jam entry- I had set out to make the cover art today, but wound up doing all of the coding as well, and setting up the private draft itchio page for it to just click launch when the jam opens up for submissions. This was pretty fun to type in after some pondering for what a catchy oneliner could be as the preview text.
I saw a that a library where I have a card had A Quantum of Nightmares, the next book for me in Charles Stross’ series, and I could borrow it as an e-book and start reading it immediately.
I overwrote Windows with Linux on my new (to me) laptop. That always makes me feel like the world has improved, however minuscule the degree.
Shrimp crackers are back in the house, and cookies! I managed to keep some food down after throwing up thrice today. And who doesn’t love some plain soft bread when you have an unsettled tummy?
Chatted with Jinx about us collaborating for the Anti-Romance jam, and got about 70% of the cover done for the Trans Fucking jam entry.
