MY MOUSE ARRIVED A DAY EARLY. SO NOW I CAN SCROLL!! Set up was seamless, pull out a little plastic tab, and you’re off to the races. Man, you never so much appreciate the ability to do little things scroll until you can’t anymore. And the new mouse feels super light.

I’ve been going back to my IFComp entry now that the cuneiform page is up (in order to procrastinate on annotating a ton of experimental data…) and basically everything is in place and working, at least at a basic level, now! There are a handful of puzzles designed but not implemented, one “I need to rework this puzzle but I’m not sure how”, and one “I’m not sure if there should be a puzzle here or not”…and then it’s testing time!

well, the guy in the pic posted by manon is definitively what one calls “metrosexual”, but OTOH, I rarely need an haversack, because, fitting for an Adventurer, my casual jackets are, in summer, bush/safare ones, but with much more than four pockets (up to a dozen), whose, trust me, is a true carryall.

For a couple weeks, I’ve been leaving out some dry food and water for a stray cat in my neighborhood. The other morning I found the bowl flipped upside down which didn’t seem like a cat thing to do. Today I found the cause…a pair of Muscovy ducks hanging out under my car, likely attracted by the cat food. I just put out some food for them and a tub of water and they seem really happy.

Cute picture of the duck! And very kind, feeding the stray animals running around. One small thing if you plan on feeding the little guys regularly- ducks shouldn’t eat cat food a lot, since it’s too high in protein for them.
Once in awhile is fine, and they will naturally eat insects and fish and worms and such in addition to vegetation while roaming around in the wild, so it won’t do them like, grievous harm from having a lil cat food snack once a week or less. They’re probably interested since ducks will more or less try to nosh down on anything small enough for them to do so.

It was another one of the hephmeows’ birthday today, and it’s crazy to realize how much time has passed. It feels like just yesterday they were a nervous little highschooler, and now they’re in university! They’re twenty now! No longer a teenager, lol.
It’s been wonderful to be a part of their extended circle of trusted adults, and so meaningful to be able to make a difference in their life with advice and actively listening. Very sweet of them to express that too.
I’m feeling old as hell over it though, hahaha.

I was doing laundry and emptying my kid’s pockets, and stumbled across some of his baby treasures. I was the same way as a child, constantly pocketing cool rocks and bringing them home, so it made me laugh when I saw how much he’s taking after me.

My portable air conditioner(sadly, they don’t make window units small enough to fit my tiny bedroom window) has been running non-stop for like the last 48 hours. After like a week of it refusing to work properly. This has brought me much relief as I handle heat about as well as gallium.

I also found my lost earring last night- it was tossed in my bedsheets, which is bizarre, because I had it fly off of my ears and get lost in the bathroom… I suppose it must have been caught up the hem of my pants or something like that? They’re the matching studs to this necklace set, but I’ve been wearing a silver and pearl drop set of earrings lately.

A bracelet of mine broke awhile ago, which I was really sad about- but while the rest of it just needs to be restringed at some point, I decided I’d salvage the charm- which was my favourite part of the bracelet, and after rummaging around, I managed to bend the bail with a coin and secured it onto a necklace chain from my gothic cross pendant necklace. :3
Very happy with how it looks, and it feels super secure! I always liked this chain- it was stainless steel and it had a very easy to use clasp compared to some of my more fiddly necklaces.

Washed the bed linens tonight, and it’s always so lovely to lay down and luxuriate in the warmth of just dried blankets. So comfy cozy…
