I swear, my Jess stamp of approval was on my desk somewhere… Once I find it, this will certainly get such a stamp!
I realized that shortly after I posted. Although the borax tip is a good one, thank you.
…and amazing ant trap tips? Amanda, you’re really on a roll today!
We have tawny crazy ants, so we know every way to kill an ant. Luckily, the myrmecologist who uses our property as a field site for his research recently informed us that our ants are infected with a deadly disease that will wipe them out. Best Christmas present ever. I literally cried with joy when he told me.
Oh man …
I only just realised that Get Corn was meant to be (i now assume) popcorn! I kept assuming it was literally sweet corn kernels. Okay, wait, now I’m confused. Which one really is it??
My positive thing for the day! Been working my way through Baba is You and loving it. Got through the last two levels I’d been stuck on in the chasm location this evening (although there are still some earlier areas with levels I’m completely stuck on… cough deep forest cough).
I got SO FRUSTRATED at some of the levels that I put the game aside. But it’s been a while… maybe I should go back and see if it’s doable now. That is SUCH an excellent game. Which is totally IF.
Honestly some levels seem impossible—no matter how many times I revisit them, I can’t conceive of a possible solution. I much prefer the ones where I can see what the solution is and just have to figure out how to carry it out!
And now, The Purple Monkey Jackets with their new hit single: “Crazy Bad Milk Ants!”
----crowd goes wild, banners raised, brassieres flying, people fainting----
Nope, not popcorn!
My original insomnia episode ended when I pulled a glass container of corn (not popped) from the fridge, downed the entire thing, went back upstairs, and finally got some sleep. ![]()
a purple monkey jacket and an ant trap with spoiled milk… let’s do a Wacky speedIF ![]()
Best regards from Italy,
dott. Piergiorgio.
Ari just fell asleep on top of me. I is sofa now.
Jinx and I spent a lot of time chatting about our characters, and she basically hammered out the outline of character and plot conflicts for one of our AUs and I’m delighted. Re-reading material for weeks. Our writing chemistry is electric. I love bouncing character dynamics back and forth together. :3
My friend’s cat often clambers up onto her laptop to smack in a message, which is very cute. She’s more clever than her brother, so we more often hear from the girlkitty. Here was her message to the groupchat today:

The kid and I were relaxing in his room with the light projector on, and I mentioned that the water reflections on the ceiling made it look like we were under the surface of the ocean. He nodded, and said it was just like our pet fish’s tank, and then pulled a little thoughtful face. “Sure hope the seagulls don’t get us.”
I have a notorious hatred of seagulls, and the one bird I’ve physically thrown has been a seagull (at a beach, they are very aggressive, and he was young enough he was still in the vaguely useless flopsy mopsy blobby baby that would 100% get fucked up by a pecking seagull stage.)
He looked at me and laughed, because “but you would just beat them up. And throw them like a basketball. So we’d be fine.” Hell yeah, man.
The meowmeow also went to the store, and brought back a packet of hairties for me. He noticed I don’t use the ones with the metal bit because it always snags in my hair, and that I’d only been using a single scrunchie religiously, and he insisted on handing them to me personally because “the pink’s for you. They’re cool colours.” Braided my hair before bed using the pink one, and they’re great. Really thoughtful gift.
This is from the meowmeow’s gift, (I commissioned a friend to design a customized lego set for the kid, it’s a dollhouse-open two storey cat house with stuff that we do together, like our real life balcony bird watching and indoor gardening- said friend was fantastic about sourcing the parts and even threw in some 3D printed lego boxes for storage in his favourite colours, and as an extra personal gift, some bonus figurines from the same model lineup, a little hedgehog and dog.)
The little calico cat is me, (according to the meowmeow, all very small sleepy fluffy kittens, but ESPECIALLY calico kittens are me, because he knows they’re my favourite kind of cat, and sometimes he’ll just scroll through my phone and swipe through to be like ‘ok this cat is eepy, its you’, same goes for any My Melody images, though he’ll also assign the smaller cat as himself if he finds pictures of kittens snuggling in my gallery) and apparently the kitty’s birdwatching / ‘watching cat TV’ which is just the cutest.
Realized something about myself that I’m not really comfortable going into detail about, particularly with this many people on the forum, but my self-esteem has gotten a boost after decades of being way too brutal to myself about something.
It feels good to finally put that to rest. Hopefully it stays that way.
