Awwww Ari does the “happy!” thing too, with enthusiasm and a touch of surprise - like ""hey, I just noticed I’m happy, what gives!?’ We’re encouraging her to say it, partially to help her identify her own emotions, but mostly because she’s super cute saying it out loud
Today is second Thanksgiving, because we are like hobbits. My aunt couldn’t do it on actual Thanksgiving day, so we bumped the family celebration to today. And my aunt requested chocolate cake, so I’m baking it again, even though after the cake excesses of last week, I’m not as thrilled as I normally would be.
A friend of mine was able to provide me a copy of a cover song I recorded several years ago and thought I had lost.
Submitted with apologies - NSFW lyrics.

Managed to read about 40 pages of a non fiction book in print form. Which given my reading print problems from my progressive neurological disease is a huge thing for me. Normally I can only successfully manage gigantic font in an ebook. More another day!
That would be me.
I’m glad you are still able to read books.
Jeff
PS. I love my Kindle but would still like to read a stack of paperbacks.
Mika dropped a bunch of new songs, and I’ve been really loving them! Amour pirate is my favourite, I think- it’s so gentle and sweet sounding and reminds me of Nikolai and Andrey, (one of Jinx’s characters and one of mine.) Finished up a big assignment and took the rest of the evening off to chill, got around to painting! Here’s Joel… And a look at the coverart for my newest WIP.
Fiiiiinally got the paperwork for Ari’s Spanish birth certificate sorted. It only took them 16 months. Never be born abroad, kids.
Reshaped my nails to buff them down short and smooth to avoid scratching myself, and I went ahead and polished them a new deep rose coppery colour as a change from the silver. Going to cut myself some cute bangs again once finals season is over- it’s good to have things to look forward to. And if I fuck it up catastrophically, I don’t need to be wandering around downtown looking like a hot mess.
I’ve always been ambiently amused by some of the polls on IFDB, so I thought I might go through and list some of them with names that stood out to me:
- Games which take place in chat messenger systems or on a digital interface
- Games with stupid player characters
- Villains
- A Poll About … A Poll About … Hm. That’s Funny. I Can’t Recall.
- Mouse & Milquetoast - Modern-World Games With a Timid Protagonist
- Christianity in IF
- Child friendly but not too child friendly
- Child authored IF
- This Is Who We Are
- Non-human perspectives
- The Squick Squad
- games about cats
Oh I know some games that’d fit the polls
Gonna need to do some research for the titles…
We went to my niece’s end-of-year high school choir performance today, which was all musical numbers. Of course they’re musical, but I mean like stage musicals, broadway musicals, movie musicals, songs from Grease and Hamilton, etc. And there were seriously like 100 kids in this performance, all with choreography and costumes and boundless enthusiasm and it was great. Then we went and had giant sloppy cheeseburgers at our favorite Austin hole-in-the-wall, which we haven’t done in forever since we embarked on the cholesterol-lowering diet of the old people that we are. They were so good. It feels so unfair that evolution hasn’t reined in the biological imperative to seek sugar-fat-salt now that burgers and fries are everywhere you turn.
Then I whipped Tom’s ass at pool for the third day in a row. Guy’s gotta up his game.
Snow!
Got a new tablet from my wife and kids. It’s a nice addition for my text gaming and reading.
Pictures? (If appropriate)
I’d love to, but I don’t think I should post pictures of kids online. But just imagine a whole bunch of teenagers in black leather jackets singing the hell out of “Greased Lightning” and you’ll be charmed.
I have finally gone to the Costco for the first time since moving across the Atlantic.
The Hotdog Combo did not disappoint!
This is good? Snow here is a calamity.
When it gets below 40 in Houston, people start crashing their cars. Oh wait, that happens all of the time.
Learned Marcus from Fallout is Worf from Star Trek today days ago. Also had a delicious Molasses cookie.
ETA: Oh! And as bizarrely unlikely bonus material for ST/FO connections, Frank Horrigan is also Worf, Mr. House is Odo from DS9, and Wesley Crusher is all of the Robobrains in FO:NV.
ETAx2: Found out we’re having Pierogies and kielbasa for dinner later today and I haven’t accidentally set fire to the forum today (yet)!
ETAx3: Generalissimo Francisco Franco and Henry Kissinger are both still dead!!
ETAx4: Wow! What did I do right!? She’s making apple cobbler after!! She told me to buy vanilla ice cream on the way home!
I had some broth left from making ramen last weekend, so I just threw some noodles in there and had myself a lovely hearty lunch on this cold day
Also a good thing: I’m really close to finishing an update for a guide that I should have done months ago…
… which will probably need a new update when SugarCube updates again
And the ShuffleComp big playlist has been earworm after earworm. Playing it in random is wild going from smooth calm ballad to hard rock
