There’s interest in having automatic tag suggestions: #36
A short-term thing that might be helpful in the meantime is to link to the tag search page ( Search for Tags ) from the screen where you add tags. Possibly the link could open up in a new window.
Either in the tags area of the viewgame page, or in the little box that pops up when you are adding tags to a game, we could link to the complete tag cloud/table, maybe with the link opening in a new window, so that people can have the complete list of tags open as they decide what tags to add to the game.
This could either replace “View the most common tags” link (which leads to only the top 50 tags, not all of them) or it could be an additional link.
(I know people want automatic tag suggestions, but if no one is actively working on that, those of us who are not super skilled programmers might still be able to do simpler things like adding links.)
I like this idea a lot! I have the tag cloud page bookmarked and often refer to it when I’m adding tags to a game, so I would love having a link to it right there.
I was figuring we’d still want a link to the tag cloud or tag list somewhere easy to find, even if a user doesn’t happen to be editing tags. I’m not sure where would be best, though.
I don’t know that we necessarily have to remove the link from the main page, especially if the links are a little bit different (e.g. if the “most common tags” link leads to the top N tags in the tag cloud, and the “view all tags on IFDB” link in the dialog leads to the complete list (not cloud) of tags).
