It’s been a long journey to get here, including writing our own engine in javascript, building an editor and creating the app, all on top of writing and recording the first part in our audio based adventure game RYFT. 8 years ago, my brother and I started on this journey as a passion project and have finally made it to launch!
It is inspired by games like Myst, Monkey Island and Zork, but playable completely hands and eyes free. It uses voice commands and it’s fully voice acted (by real humans!). It’s classic adventure game puzzle solving, not choice based.
You can play it anytime you might listen to a podcast or audiobook (commuting, cooking, cleaning etc.)!
The forum software is configured to disallow drive-by malicious links from new users. If you explore the forum you’ll pretty quickly gain a trust level. You haven’t even been on the forum a total of 10 minutes yet!
“Topics entered” means you clicked into a topic and scrolled through the posts, and I’m pretty sure Discourse counts a “read” post when you scroll past it.
Thanks for checking it out! Unfortunately due to a known bug on with Android’s speech to text, the older speech api is broken, so we could only support Android 13+. You may be able to upgrade if your phone is only a year old, since Android 13 came out a couple years ago.
Hey! Lot of big updates recently including an improved tutorial, expanded hint system, and improved autocorrect for voice commands.
Also for anyone who would prefer to play on desktop, or has an older version of Android we can’t support, RYFT now works on Google Play Games for PC (beta)!
