I just noticed this in WI §2.3. Punctuation:
Inform […] also has the more exotic “|” (not a capital I, a vertical stroke) for paragraph breaks outside of quoted text
…and I have no idea what a paragraph break outside of quoted text even means. Anyone?

I believe a paragraph break means 2 line break in a row, so this
Every turn:
say "A";
Every turn:
say "B";
should be equivalent to this?
Every turn:
say "A";|Every turn:
say "B";
But it causes an error in 6L38. I seem to recall it worked once though. Or I may be mistaken.

That seems to be it – with a space after the ‘|’ it works in 6G60.
Lab is a room.
Every turn:
say "A";| Every turn:
say "B";

Well, this works even without the vertical bar.

True. But with the ‘|’ it also works without the ‘;’ or a ‘.’ (in 6G60).
Lab is a room.
Every turn:
say "A"| Every turn:
say "B";
