The QMan graphic novel

Like with my movie, The Krone Experiment, I have recently re-uploaded my circa 2009-2012 webcomic/graphic novel, The QMan, at its original url, whoistheqman.com. I had let it go fallow with neglect, even though I had more plot and plans that were to come.

I have started the process of writing and drawing a continuation of the story. This will take some time to realize, but new material will appear at this site.

It is currently a barely-altered basic WordPress starter blog. It’ll get a makeover when warranted, but the original 144 page Antigenesis story is available free, plus the 6 cover-art color pieces.

Issues 7 and 8 as originally presented on the site are not yet (re)available.

Rob, I dunno if you’re a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but I was a screaming Guardians of the Galaxy fan, so much so that when Disney fired James Gunn over his old tweets and it looked like we might not get a GoTG3, I wrote a GoTG3 screenplay, with soundtrack. My basic thesis was that GoTG2 was stealth a remake of Smokey and the Bandit and I set out to make a sequel to that.

I also documented my dad’s influences on GotG, which definitely contributed to my GotG love.

Ivan, I just grabbed your Guardians of the Galaxy 3 post. And I am very interested in the davecockrum.com material. Thanks for the post.

I’m reading the influence of your Dad bit first.

This isn’t your first screenplay. It doesn’t have the film student stank. I can actually read it.

Hey, remember how annoyed you were after we saw Episode 2? A couple of us were not As bothered. I remember because you were driving the car! Anakin woulda.. light sabered the …! Watch the road!!

Glad you’re still there, old friend.

And Passionate. I need to finish reading this screenplay.

Hah, I do remember. My wife Mary put on the prequels recently and I watched that scene with curiosity to see how it stood up, and… I didn’t really care anymore. Childhood me would have been in heaven with all the Star Wars available, but middle-aged me is exhausted with it all.

Color!

I get a little bit of Demon with a Glass Hand vibe out of the opening pages of this.

After I wrote that, I spent some time blocking it out into comic book pages. Not storyboards, exactly, but panel layouts with all the dialog placed in balloons, kind of a backwards production process. It made for 240 pages, a 12-issue series. I let that go when I turned to the IF engine I’ve been working on ever since, and somewhere in there the actual GotG3 came out, which made it seem a lot less urgent, but it’d be a fun project to get back to one day.
