Here’s a new game called “The Little Match Girl and His Holiness Pope Pius IX.” At just over 39,000 words of I7 source text, TLMG&HHPPIX is roughly the same size as The Little Match Girl Against the Universal Sisterhood of Naughty Little Girls, and testers have told me that it takes about two hours to play.
One of the characters in the game is Pope Pius IX, who served as Pope from 1846 to 1878. During his tenure he established the dogma of papal infallibility, he basically kidnapped a poor Jewish kid from his parents, and overall he was kind of autocratic and mean. However, it looks as though this personality of his didn’t develop until after the revolutions of 1848, which got him divested of political power and exiled from Rome. Prior to all that business, he was a much more progressive, open-armed Pope. A right jolly old elf!
This Little Match Girl story takes place very early in 1848, when all that business was only getting started.
