I figured I’d hop in and add to the fun. I think you’ll see why something like this should be behind a ā€œdetailsā€ tag.

4 reflections on Citizen Makane

The first guy to visit Ur-ville
Soon saw that adventuring skill
And prowess in bed
Three centuries ahead
Had best not be run-of-the-mill

A fellow named Stiffy Makane,
For one major thing on his brain,
Must go to the mat.
You pervert! Not that!
There’s citizenship to attain.

Man, Stiffy Makane’s got it made!
He cannot help but go get laid!
But once he’s shagged out
There’s goals all about:
Research, teaching, a cave to raid.

This plot twist would so leave my dyin’
Though evidence, pro-, I’m not scryin’
How minds here would bend
If ā€œThe Reverendā€
Was just a pen name for Mark Ryan!

In the ā€œI didn’t play this yet but want toā€ department, Milliways.

Hitch-Hiker’s fans hoped there would be a
Sequel where you’re on Magrathea
Or see Milliways.
Fourteen thousand days
On? Done! Not just a neat idea!

(I looked up the publishing date: September 14, 1984. Yay google for doing the arithmetic.)

And two limericks with 1) an obvious flagrant cheat and 2) ā€œcreativeā€ pronunciation, but I’m not vying for Poet Laureate, here:

No Hitchhikers sequel? Forlorn
This left me. Now? No cause to mourn.
Are you shocked if tolded
When Infocom folded
The author had not yet been born?

H2G2 had no sequel.
Though implementors had the will
Infocom went under.
One’s done now! I wonder
If they’re thrilled it’s written in ZIL?

Here’s one for Trail Stash. To avoid breaking the spirit of the self-promotion rule, I kept it technical.

The production value ain’t flash
And there’s no grand idea clash
Or violent schisms.
Just odd spoonerisms
Await if you play Trail Stash.

Okay, I just changed the title of the thread… so if you want to contribute, don’t be shy!

Gestures Towards Divinity

If you hold that the cynics are deeply mistaken
and your faith in humanity still is unshaken
please take my advice
to that painter be nice
but for God’s sake don’t bring home the Bacon.

Ha! Gestures was probably going to be my next limerick, and I was already contemplating how I’d use Bacon! Nice work. @OverThinking

Dr Ludwig and the Devil

I’ll make life like God! Only better!
And the devil won’t make me his debtor;
for I honour of laws,
of each contract, each clause,
not the spirit, but only the letter!

Last Vestiges by @thesleuthacademy

Randall White was found dead in his room.
It’s our task to determine ā€œBy whom?ā€
It is time to play sleuth,
And to find out the truth
Of the things that led up to his doom.

My Brother; The Parasite

What if we could contact the dead?
Would we want to hear what they’d have said?
      Or would it repel us—
      To grim deeds compel us—
And leave rankling words in our head?

Bright Brave Knight Knave by Andrew Schultz @aschultz

              |
Bright Brave Knight Knave is a jaunt
   Where your rhyming resources you'll flaunt;
Where a slight slope right rope
Could get you something quite dope.
It's all the wordplay you could want!

One Does Not Simply Fry by Stewart Baker and James Beamon @bakerstewart

EDIT: I jumped the gun on this one, posting it after only having read a few opening paragraphs in the game in a distracted sort of setting. I saw the word Bake-off, but didn’t realize that was last year’s competition. Gluten nor buns should be getting out of hand this year, because this year is the FRY-OFF.

       |
At Godstone a bake-off is planned:
The gluten may get out of hand!
   But more than the buns
The profusion of puns
Might prove more than your buns can stand.*

*(The reviewer is not actually knocking the author’s punnical profligacy. The reviewer’s own game is littered with them. For what it’s worth I think Riders of Lohan is a gem.)

Had I been drinking coffee while playing the game, I would have splurted it out my nose with the Which King?

Gotta ask, what are the |s for? Marking the first heavy syllable on each line?

Yes… I started getting a little undisciplined with lead-up syllables so I wanted it to be clearer how it was read :slightly_smiling_face:

One Does Not Simply Fry deserves a redo, since I got the subject matter wrong: @bakerstewart

At Godstone the Fry-off was slated!
The crowd on Mount Boom was elated!
From eggs, oil and flour
The One Ring of Power
In onion ring form was created!
