The Disappearance of Bigfoot Bluff

I was managing my Itch io account and I noticed “that Bigfoot Bluff” disappeared from it – according to archive.org, some time around 2024.

There are a few possibilities:

  1. Someone submitted a takedown request. (There is a rental cabin with the same name that might want search priority.) Possible, but I never received any message about a takedown.

  2. There was some sort of hosting or backup issue on Itch io and my page was silently lost. Possible.

  3. I took it down and forgot. I didn’t do this - I’m 100% sure.

  4. The game took on a life of its own and disappeared like Bigfoot.

Has anyone else had Itch io games taken down? Did you receive a notice?

Anyway, the game is still archived in various other places. @Mathbrush, can you change the link for Spring Thing 2022 to point to this one? Thanks

The new tagline should be TOO CONTROVERSIAL FOR ITCH.IO!

I also had the thought it had something to do with the Funko Pops takedown that briefly took down all of Itch io. There is, apparently, a Bigfoot Funko Pop by coincidence.

However, the disappearance happened several months before that.

Oh, and if anyone is curious why the game and the cottage are both named “Bigfoot Bluff,” it’s because the original Bigfoot footage was shot at Bluff Creek, which inspired my game’s name and undoubtedly the cabin owners too.
