I’ve known of Brian Moriarty forever of course so it’s incredibly cool to hear him talk. One interesting note is he mentions he’s toyed with “remastering” Trinity with extra content and potentially releasing it under the original title.

Original Title

The Wabe

Apparently it was changed because it was believed nobody would understand what a ‘wabe’ is. It’s mentioned in Lewis Carroll’s “Jabberwocky” and apparently meant as “the circle of grass around a gnomon.” called a ‘wa-be’ because it “goes a long way before it, and a long way behind it” This game also taught me the word “gnomon” which is the vertical pointer of a sundial which casts the shadow.

This is absolutely fabulous!

That sounds like a good title for a TV show, perhaps a comedy.

If you’ve never heard him talk before, then perhaps you haven’t watched the Get Lamp documentary, or seen one of his many engrossing presentations. All of them are highly recommended.

I had almost forgotten about this series, so I didn’t notice until today that episodes three and four were added recently. I just though I’d mention that, in case I wasn’t the only one who missed them:

cool. the first 4 were fascinating. i thought they were done posting.

I missed this before, so today I listened to episode 2. Now I know why Jukes is one of the magic words in Beyond Zork.

*called a ‘wa-be’ because it “goes a long way before it, and a long way behind it”

I thought it was said as “wayb”, like “a long wayb-əfore it”.

If it’s “way-be” then presumably “outgrabe” is supposed to be “out-gray-be”, which sounds too much like gravy for my liking. (Are there any English words ending “-abe” that are pronounced “-ay-be”? None are springing to mind.)
