The Apothecary's Assistant by Allyson Gray

I suspect Irmgard (who I just helped in the store today) is a Moosweiblein, a “little moss woman” from German folk tales.

Correct! Well done! :de: :tada: :herb:

Moosweiblein and Moosmännlein (known collectively as the Moosleute, or moss folk, among other names) are clad in moss and have a close connection with trees. May or may not be considered distinct from Holzleute (wood people).
It’s said that fog or mist can be caused by their baking, and they will sometimes share cake with other species! :cake:

Coming in very late just to say I love the idea. As someone who enjoyed Ryan’s fishing game, it’s awesome to see someone else use the same format.

Really appreciate the link to a crossword, as it lets me try to solve it without worrying about missing out on clues. Question - what will I miss in post-comp release? I really want to try and see everything the game has to offer, but am lightly hesitant to mess around with my system time (and with the intended playthrough speed…)

Thank you so much for your interest!!

The post-comp version should include everything in the current one, plus an additional feature or two and maybe a small amount of added content; the only thing “lost” will be the experience of being locked into the same 6-week period as other players.

So for anyone who started late or hasn’t started yet, please don’t worry about missing out!

Awesome! And thanks for the, uh, page reveal. I was happy to buy my two beads.

As IFComp 2024 concludes, I’d like to give one last thank you to everyone who participated in any way! You’ve all made this little experiment a lot more special, and I’m already considering it a huge success no matter what the final results say. I’m very sorry for any rough edges, which I’ll do my best to sand away in the updated release!

Because the comp ends on the 16th in some timezones, the store is programmed to shut down only on the 17th. At that point, an information screen will be displayed whenever the game is opened, with a timeslot-selector available for folks with existing save files who are curious about what they missed (not recommended for those who’d like to save some surprises for the reopening).

In the next couple of weeks I’ll be conducting the final charity vote tally and writing a short postmortem. I have no expectations for further engagement and would rather let people rest, but if anyone is still interested in making guesses about the species of the remaining folkloric characters, they’ll be counted up until the 26th.

See you later and take care! :white_heart:

Working on some more guesses! Is Minviluz an Alan?

Yes, well done! :philippines:  :tada: And that’s 5 out of 8 customers guessed in total! You’ve definitely been one of our MVPs.

Bayani is human and not Minviluz’s biological son, but they have a very loving family and he thinks she’s the best mom ever! (He really likes his new step-parent, too…)

Weetamoo: Skogsrå?
古沢 松: Rokukurobi for sure

Edit: Oof. I understand my problem. Can I offer a tiny bit of feedback? In the keys event, can you please put spaces in between them? I didn’t realise there were many separate links in one row.

Haha, you must have reached the final Thursday shift! Well done! :jp:  :tada: It’s very cool to see her name written out in kanji, too!

She’s probably most similar to the average human out of all the customers (though her nocturnal schedule sets her apart somewhat), and she also has an exceptional amount of control compared to others who share her species/condition. But sometimes she has trouble holding herself together…

That’s not it — but a very interesting guess which I enjoyed learning about!

I believe so far we’ve covered South America, Asia and Europe, so among the remaining characters there’s at least one from each of these continents: North America, Africa, Oceania. Most of them are from Europe, though!

I’m sorry you had a shift that didn’t seem to work properly! I tested and double-checked the code, but it behaves as expected for me and I can’t seem to find any errors…

Ovidia gratefully accepts it and clutches it tightly to her chest. She carefully tucks it away before continuing her work.

Are you playing on a phone or tablet? Since everything is packed so tightly together, I could see mobile users trying to tap on the correct answer but the click registering on adjacent text instead. I’ll try to make some adjustments in the next version!

Edit: I just saw your edit! Yeah, really sorry about that! Hopefully it’ll work better and be more clear after the adjustments. I really appreciate the feedback!
