The 20 Second Game Jam

I just wanted to let you know that one of the game jams I organise, the 20 Second Game Jam starts next week (November 8). The goal is to make a game that is only 20 seconds long (not to spend 20 seconds making a game). I realise that it’s not the easiest constraint for a text based game but I’m going to give it a damn good try this year. The jam is long and luxurious - it lasts for three weeks but (don’t tell anyone), we always have a “surprise” one-week extension. We also accept late submissions and you can start whenever you like.

If you would like to join and work on an entry, let me know. I would be really interested in seeing how people approach the constraint.

Ahh! I played your 1 min game and I loved it. Manonamora recommended it when I asked on the Interactive Fiction Club discord for creative ways to make interactive fiction that can be played in 20 seconds. I especially like the untimed accessibility mode, and I’m yoinking it for my game.

it’s not untimed but it is longer (5 mins at most), I do wonder about the accessibility stuff for a 20 s game  (is the interactive fiction club neo-interactives or another discord?)

5 minutes is still pretty good  I will be offering the option to play untimed. I also plan to mildly cheat the constraint. When your time runs out, the game is over. You can’t do anything except restart the game. But the text on the screen will stay up so you can read it at your leisure.

Interactive Fiction Club is a game jam I participated in earlier this year Interactive Fiction Club - itch.io. I had a fun time. The discord is here Interactive Fiction Club (quiet lately, I guess because there’s no jam going on).
