The first one linked in your latest post looks much better to me!
I wonder if you might also want to tone down the darkening effect on the “covered” pages. I’m guessing it’s needed to visually separate two pages of similar colour when one folds over the other but it’s distracting at its darkest.
I’m seeing a gap on the connection line between Cellar and Round Room where the Jade Figurine (from Engravings Cave) overlaps, but no visible border
gap between Clearing and Rocky Ledge which appears to be the result of an otherwise invisible border around Crystal Skull (in Canyon View) which does not actually cross the line
Looks neat though and I wouldn’t consider either of these to be a defect. I wouldn’t even have pointed them out if you hadn’t explicitly asked about these details.
Nope, there’s a defect. Thanks, that’s exactly why I asked about this kind of thing.
My choice of words was bad…I said “border” when it’s really supposed to be a margin. So there’s not supposed to be a solid line around the object names. But the sizing and alignment of the effect was slightly off because the routine that does it was still assuming that room labels and object labels were the same font size.
Anyway, I pushed another little update. The amount of whitespace reserved around object labels should now more closely match the actual rendered text size.
I also updated the “main” feelie link to use the smoother transitions. I’ll go back and add a note to my earlier posts that link it to avoid confusion. Right now I think the choice is between:
Still interested in hearing other people’s feedback on which they prefer.
I’m not going to try to fine-tune the contrast of the shadow effects until I have the final art. I might put in some kind of border or vignetting effect just to give the edges better contrast.
