On and off over the last few months, I’ve been working on a game for Text Adventure Literacy Jam 2025.
As it’s for a competition, I can’t say too much about it, except that it has a sort of time travel theme and you’ll visit some historically-accurate events from the past.
As it’s for TALJ, it’s meant for beginners to text adventures (or parser-based interactive fiction) and includes a tutorial, although the tutorial can be turned off.
The game feels large in scope, but the puzzles are fairly easy and (hopefully) well-hinted within the game. Expect to spend about two hours playing and an extra couple of hours to account for testing.
The game has been alpha tested by one person and I’ve made a lot of changes since then. I’m now seeking beta testers, both experienced players/testers and beginners, perhaps some choice-based players that would like to try parser-based IF.
It’s a Z-code game written with PunyInform, so you’ll need a Z-code interpreter or you can play it online at iPlayIF. The finished version will also be playable online from my itch.io site.
If you can help out, please send me a personal message and I’ll send you the z5 file.
