Switching PCs in mid-game

“Color the Truth” by Mathbrush does a lot of character switching. I know there have been others I can’t think of right off. I would think it must involve a lot of extra coding to do it well.

Long before that, didn’t “Earth and Sky” by Paul O’Brian involved character switching?

Jim, I tried to use this 25 years ago in Being Andrew Plotkin. I guess I still feel like this was my one time to be on the edge of what the community was advancing the medium to do. The starting protagonist is a guy with a dull job. You can examine the room and do the task, with brooding about how lame this is written into the reaction text.

By the time the game flips the POV, you have met the female protagonist from original guy’s limited point of view. Like a movie making a hard edit, you get that guy’s story as far as his limited scope can go, and now it would be really interesting and helpful if we could switch to the professional lady he’s barely getting anywhere with. In fact, it’s funny to look at him from her specific perspective, which is already set up.

Have as many of all of it going on and working in that direction.
