Swan song

As IFComp draws to an end
I’d just like to say, “Well done, friend!”
To each one and all
With a game large or small
That for our perusal they’ve penned.

It’s my first time judging a comp;
It’s been an enjoyable romp!
Although my reviews
Will cause most to snooze
I wanted to give it a stomp.

There’s a game here to suit every mood!
And plots range from Furies to food.
Want to play Xanthippe,
Or a host in Bali,
Or a game unashamedly crude?

Prince Q could have been cut in thirds
And still satisfied large-game-fan nerds.
But as writer my habit
Is to breed, like a rabbit,
A shocking profusion of words.

And now the results are ‘bout in,
I’ll say who I think’s going to win.
The game I would name
Is one and the same
As Doc Ludwig, from our @svlin!

Cheers likewise for our reviewers!
Who mostly are cheerers not booers,
Pointing out what was right
(Or if not, they’re polite).
Prolific and glib wonder-doers!

Max and Amanda use songs
To list a game’s rights and its wrongs,
While JJ Mc C
Makes me chortle with glee
And Kastel and Noah write throngs.

Parsers are Rovarsson’s fare;
@aschultz writes more than his share!
And Victor will write
Of things quite erudite.
@Truthcraze presents meals with flair.

A tip of my hat to Mike Russo,
Who, in common with Robinson Crusoe,
Takes whatever he finds:
Builds reviews that blow minds
Whether simple or complex to do so.

And now my debut here is done…
Cheers to you all: it’s been fun!
Now go down the list,
Play a game that you missed,
Or go share its joy with someone.

Signing off!
John

Beautiful prose. You have great talent.

It’s beautiful, but it’s most certainly not prose!

Well, to be fair, he’s not focusing on the cons…

And he’s hardly an amateur!

Though if I try a verse, don’t consider it a ploy.

Or p’raps a line or two,
A simple thing to do,
(Even as a poetry hoi polloi)

Thanks for not just entering but for being a cool part of the community, in the author forum and out here. You definitely pushed me to try and do a lot of things I didn’t think I would, and I hope it lasts after the comp.

Prince Q was a wonderful romp.
Wish I’d taken more of a chomp
At it, but I’m glad
There’s fun to be had
Solving it with more time, post-comp.

Limericks? Poppycock!
Ollekebolleke:
that is the verse form that’s
perfect to cheer

stories and puzzles and
interactivity
forged into unity;
art without peer!

Interactive tales,
IFComp whispers stories,
Words weave worlds unseen.

Best accompanied rhythmycally by a classic jig like Swallowtail Jig.

“Laddekedaddeke”, my grandma used to call the poetic form, and also the fiddling rhythm of the jig.

Just for clarification, I’m not a writer in any capacity, nor have ever been; Prince Q is the only thing I’ve ever written that’s been seen by other eyes. I just meant that when I write, I find that I like to express myself in a sort of Dickensian mode…

High praise: I’m a “cool” part of the community! You’re welcome, and I didn’t realize I was pushing you to do new things, so that’s really cool to hear! (If you do “take a bigger chomp” of PQ, you’ll probably want to download the latest version!)

Quisborne mostly limericks, but he tries his hand at haiku once, too

One of the goofy songs at Quisborne’s music festival I called “Melody Malady”, so I guess I’ve ollekebolleked without even knowing it

Awesome poem! So
Funny and yet I can hope
This isn’t the last.
