Steal my idea: Annoying ex as a hint system

I’m a big fan of hint systems that have a fun mechanic, especially when the hints are unreliable, like the fleas in Wizard Sniffer, where one of them always tells the truth, and the other always lies.

The other day, I had an idea: a game where, to operate the hints, your player character has to text your annoying ex-boyfriend, who smugly gives you a hint that’s directionally correct but wrong in some detail.

I have no time at all to use this idea in a working game, so I write it here in the hopes that it inspires someone to run with it. (I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a game that uses a mechanic like this…?)

Sarah Willson’s Closure is not this idea but I thought I’d mention it as it has similar elements in a different configuration. Girl snoops in ex-boyfriend’s dorm room, solicits player’s guidance entirely by text messages.
