Spicy Stories Club - curious to know what you think

Hey folks,

Some of you might know me from StoryMate. The loooow-code platform for writing and publishing interactive fiction. Lately, I’ve been quietly working on an experimental offshoot called Spicy Stories Club. It’s cut from the same cloth, but heading in a… let’s say slightly spicier direction (for now, at least).

We’re launching with a focus on short, addictive, remixable fiction. Think sentence starters, and micro-stories. It’s more narrative-first than interactive at this stage.

Here’s the curveball: we’re intentionally not including interactive branching at launch, even though that’s very much in my DNA (and StoryMate’s). I wanted to strip it right back, find the fun in the storytelling, and keep the barrier to entry super low.

That said — the bones for interactivity are still there, and it’s something we can bring back quickly if it makes sense.

So I wanted to ask:

  • Would you use something like this?
  • Do you know somebody else who would use this?
  • Does launching without interactivity weaken the idea?
  • Would this platform appeal to writers from the IF community, or is it too far removed?
  • Any ideas or feedback on how this could evolve?

It’s early days, but I’d love to hear what you think to inform any next steps

Cheers,
Dan
