Hi everyone,
I’m Yohan, author of Maximilien - a psychological horror interactive novel set in Boston, 1926 (Twine/SugarCube, 12 possible endings, “sanity” system).
Quick heads-up before anything else: this has nothing to do with IFComp. Maximilien is currently live and being judged as part of IFComp 2026, and if you’re one of the many people deep in judging right now, please don’t feel any obligation here - skip this post entirely, your plate is full enough already.
What I’m actually asking: I’m looking for a small number of beta testers for something separate : Maximilien Steam Edition, an enriched version launching October 26th (new color illustrations replacing the comp’s engravings and more, an original score, and new narrative content beyond the comp build: three new story arcs, 53 new passages, a new potential victim).
I’m not after deep narrative feedback - there’s no time left to act on that kind of note before the deadlines ahead. What would genuinely help: broken links or dead ends, anything where the sanity-distortion effect misfires or doesn’t reset properly, and typos or wording slips you happen to notice.
If you’re interested, reply here or send me a PM and I’ll follow up privately with a Steam key (adds the game to your library only, not visible or purchasable by anyone else) and instructions.
One ask: please keep it between us for now: no streaming, screenshots, or public posts - until the game is officially out.
Thanks for reading this far, and thank you to anyone who has time to spare this week.
- Yohan
