Seeking testers for Fantasy Opera: The Theater of Memory (choice-based fantasy/mystery RPG)

Hi folks! I’m looking for beta testers for my newest game Fantasy Opera: The Theater of Memory, which I’m planning to release for Spring Thing. This is a sequel to Mischief at the Masquerade, which appeared in IFComp; however, the new game is totally standalone and does not require any familiarity with the first!

This is a choice-based game, coded in ink with a custom interface and playable in your web browser. I estimate playtime at roughly one hour, give or take.

At this stage, I’m most interested in feedback on the RPG-style game mechanics and puzzle design (though other feedback is welcome).

As thanks for their participation, testers will be credited in the finished game — and one will be randomly selected (from those who opt-in) to commission a watercolor painting from me as a gift!:artist_palette:

If you’re interested, send me a DM or email me at lamppostprojects@gmail.com and I’ll send you a document with a private link to the beta and a few instructions.

SYNOPSIS

The musicians of a new opera house are plagued by strange dreams. When you are asked to investigate their cause, you find that the answers may be hidden within the walls of the theater itself.

Resume your role as private investigator to the performing arts in this second, standalone installment in the Fantasy Opera series: interactive fiction RPGs set in a fantastical reimagining of 17th century Baroque Italy.

  • Solve a mystery of magic, music, and architecture.

  • Play with stats, die rolls, and skill checks.

  • Choose a preset player character or fully customize your own.

  • Illustrated with original watercolor paintings.

Content Warnings: Age and aging is a central narrative theme. The following topics are mentioned repeatedly, although very briefly and not in detail: infidelity, divorce, drinking, house fire, home robbery, and fear of mortality.
