A Murder in Nineveh
Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in
Forensic Necromancy
When the TALJ theme was announced, I got a sudden idea and designed this game in a couple days. Then I got busy with thesis work and wasn’t able to finish for five months. It’s a short (~45m), beginner-level, classic-style text adventure with ~seven puzzles in it, built around a really fascinating historical event that’s a matter of current academic debate. Solve traditional text adventure puzzles, piece together the story from short historical vignettes, and uncover the truth of what happened two and a half thousand years ago.
I didn’t quite have it ready in time for TALJ, but this week I pulled it back out and finished a bit of polishing, so I think it’s just about ready for other eyes on it! With any luck it’ll be a submission to Parsercomp at this point.
