I am seeking anyone interested in beta-testing a parser-based, horror adventure game written in Inform 7:
The Last Voyage of the Warsaw Queen
Milford Young was a riverboat gambler on the Mississippi River, who perished in the tragic wreck of the Warsaw Queen, a 19th century stern-wheel paddle steamer, on the night of March 25, 1889. He was also your great-great-grandfather. His legend lives large in your family history, but Milford Young had secrets that never made it into any of the stories passed down through the generations…
I think it is playable in about 2 hours. On the cruelty scale, I would consider it Polite. The puzzles consist of listening to NPC conversations and interacting with objects to progress the story. You can die, but you should not be able to create an unwinnable state.
I can provide the game file and some additional feelies, including a player’s map that is a play aid intended to provide atmosphere without spoilers. More detailed maps as well as a walkthrough can be provided. The game also has a progressive hinting system at your disposal.
I am asking for comments and a transcript if possible.
The game will be submitted to IFComp 2026, so any feedback received during the month of August will be most helpful.
Thank you for your consideration, and please let me know if you are interested in helping!
Content warnings: gambling, drinking, lawlessness, some implied violence, supernatural horror, death, and vaguely implied sexual situations.
