Request for beta testers for "MACK"

Hello!

I have an old school, parser-based, Z5 puzzler which needs a bit of beta testing. I intend to enter it in this year’s IF Comp, assuming I get it stable enough by the end of the month. It’s complete, and solvable, but also hasn’t seen any QA yet so may need more than a little polish. It’s called “Monkey’s And Car Keys” and falls into a “Jungle Exploration” genre.

Here’s the blurb:

That could have been bad.

A whole day lost in the jungle! You’re bruised, dirty, and thirsty. But now you’re out. Finally! You’ve found your Jeep and you’re ready to leave this whole experience behind you. Except… Are those monkeys climbing through your car?

And where are the keys you left in it?

Expected time to play: I think this game is solvable in 2 hours or less, but… hopefully we can confirm this during beta testing.

Difficulty: Beginner to Intermediate level. There’s some “How to Play Parser-based IF” content included, but I’ll need some feedback on how difficult the puzzles are.

Content is safe for: Most ages, I believe. There’s no profanity, graphic violence, or adult content, but there is a light combat scene. From my perspective, if this were a movie it would be PG.

If you are interested in helping to squash a few bugs, please DM me.

Thanks in advance!

Jim

Does it make use of the OnyxRing library?

It does! An updated version, but yes.

Hello again!

I just wanted to bump this ask, since I know Independence Day weekend filled up some free time for those who celebrate it. I do have a couple of excellent beta testers who have already found some (frankly embarrassing) bugs and made the entry much better, but would like a few additional eyes on it, since everyone experiences stories in IF a little differently.

If you are someone who wavered on the original post, and have a few hours to spare over the next couple of weeks to poke holes in a nascent story, I’d love your help. Please DM me and I’ll get you set up.

Thanks for considering!

Jim
