Recommended software for making maps?

While I like drawing physical maps for parser games, I’ve recently started playing IF on my daily train commute where that can’t be done. I’ve had some success mapping with the Windows built-in Microsoft Whiteboard, but got frustrated with how difficult it is to draw straight lines. Also tried Trizbort which is generally excellent, but it doesn’t play well with trackpad / touchscreen.

Would appreciate any recommendations for useful programs, especially ones that work well using a laptop trackpad.

(also, please admire my Anchorhead map made in Microsoft Whiteboard. It’s surprisingly good at this, if you ignore the inability to draw consistent lines.)

Have you tried both online Trizbort and Trizbort for Windows?

You might consider consulting the Web forum site

Among other things, the section “Mapping Resources” includes pointers to a variety of map-making tools.

I tried Trizbort Windows but not the online version. Just played around with it a bit and it seems easier to use with a trackpad, thank you!

I’ve been liking the online version of Trizbort a lot, though I miss the automapping feature from the Windows version.

Draw.io or LucidChart are my go to mapping tools.
