Recently upcoming competition for parser game in any selected authoring system?

Hello, I have checked the calendar a couple of times, but I’m not sure what is the most recent upcoming competition for parser-based text-adventure games, where the author is free to select any authoring system?

I know that Text Adventure Literacy Jam and Parser Comp are both ended by this year. So I guess that something in January is coming?

I’ll be thankful for information.

There are always various jams running, but the next “big” ones:

  • SeedComp starts in January. The concept of this one is that people submit “seeds” (game concepts, stories, art, code snippets, etc) that authors mash together as they build their games. So if you have an already-written game, this one won’t be the right venue.
  • Spring Thing starts in March. This is the “anything goes” competition with very loose rules that doesn’t provide ranked results. The main requirements are that it can’t be previously released (unless you’ve significantly expanded or rewritten it) and it can’t have AI-generated text or graphics. Beyond that, go wild!

Then comes ParserComp in the summer and IFComp in the fall, but that’s getting to be quite a while away.

If you’d like to get away from AdvSys and ADL, PunyComp 2025 is running now.

Too tight period to participate in PunyComp 2025 for me, as I would need to learn Inform 6 first, then write the game in this system.

I plan to do 1 or max. 2 ADL games before I learn the Inform 6. It’s just easier task for me. That’s why I mentioned about “any authoring system”.

Thank you for information. Unless some earlier Jam comes before, I think the Spring Thing is a good option, with much time for preparation. (I might check the SeedComp as well).
