I’m stuck in this game. I’ve found the temporal relocator and turned it on. It says the diagnostic card doesn’t work. I’ve tried looking in the slot, putting things in the slot, etc. but I don’t know what a good diagnostics card would look like. I have a bag of components including a resistor and diode but I’m not sure how to make a diagnostic card with them.
You need three things: the circuit board, the bag of components and the soldering iron. It sounds like you’ve got the first two, but I’ll provide details in spoilers for anyone else reading this.
Firstly, talk to Carl. His responses are random, so keep talking to him until he tells you how to see the details on a circuit board.
Circuit board
Go to the hackspace storage room and open the cardboard box to find the circuit board. Examine it to see that it has some components missing, but they’re too small to identify, so remember what Carl said.
Take the circuit board to hackspace electronics and examine the repair station, where you’ll find a magnifying lamp and a soldering iron. Now examine the circuit board to find that it’s missing a diode, a resistor and a capacitor.
Bag of components
Go to the hackspace library, where you’ll find a magazine. Examine it and you’ll find that there’s a plastic bag attached to the back. Take this to hackspace electronics and open it to reveal a capacitor, diode and resistor. Aha!
Soldering iron
Examine the soldering iron and note that it has a small fill valve that’s currently empty. Take the soldering iron with you back to the hackspace storage room and examine the shelves, where you’ll find a reel of solder and a cylinder of butane gas. Get the gas and fill the soldering iron.
Putting it all together
Finally, take all the parts you need back to hackspace electronics and repair the circuit board. You can now insert it in the slot in the temporal relocator, then use the relocator.
I’m glad this topic is up here! I had my own question where I got stuck. It seems best to put them all in one place.
I’ve opened up the second time period and have managed to DISASSEMBLE the BELLOWS (I liked how you needed the calipers to make the FRAME after, but I’m stuck on REPAIR COVER–there aren’t a lot of hints in response to it, and juggling items seems tricky.
By the way, I made a map of the main area, for people interested in getting started. The map’s pretty intuitive, but still, we might as well.
I’m having fun, but I’m just repeatedly getting stuck and moving forward a bit, and I want to make sure I get through before the judging deadline. I suspect others may feel that way too!
Sorry for the delay. I’ve been busy the last couple of days and haven’t checked in. Here’s some notes in case you haven’t repaired the bellows yet.
If you examine the bellows, you’ll see that the wooden side panels are cracked and the leather seams are split. You’ll need to DISMANTLE the bellows, but attempting to do so tells you that you haven’t got the right tools, as the pieces are held together by sturdy tacks and you’ll need something to pry them apart. I haven’t spoilered any of this, as it’s pretty easy to find, but it gives you a few pointers as to what you’ll have to do.
So, here’s the steps:
Disassembling the bellows
Get the bellows and take them back to the hackspace. Get the prybar and disassemble the bellows. You can now see the extent of the damage and the bellows are ready for measuring and replacement cutting. (Hint, hint.)
Repairing the cover
Get the scissors and the leather and go to the sewing room, then repair the cover.
Repairing the frame
Get the bellows, the callipers and the plywood and take them to the main workshop. Measure the frame of the bellows. It crumbles in the process, but that doesn’t matter, as you’ve now got the measurements. Get the plywood and use the laser cutter. You’ve now got two cleanly-cut wooden boards ready to be assembled.
Assembling the bellows
Get the cover, the frame, the salvaged tacks and the hammer and make or assemble the bellows.
There, now wasn’t that easy? Now take the bellows back to Farid al-Saffar and give them to him to find out your next task.
Thanks, yes, I got through it now! I had trouble figuring that one item needs to be used more than once. It makes sense that it could be, but I assumed it was too small.
This is one I’d like to replay now that I know how things work together. I think I’ll have a different perspective on it.
