A new version of Quest is now available - Quest 5.9.
This is the first release at all for over six years (the last release of Quest was in mid-2018) and the first since I took over the project again.
Among a lot of bug fixes and tweaks (see the release notes for full details), the main changes are:
the embedded Chromium browser has been updated (from 2014’s v39 to a much more recent v130), meaning more recent web features will now work on the desktop version.
system requirements have been upped, now requiring a minimum of 64-bit Windows 10 or 11.
I feel since Quest is a full fledged game creator and especially since it is still being updated, it should get it’s own sub section. Although maybe not enough requests for this particular system is shown to warrant that…
Being able to save without logging in etc is a great improvement - well done! I just wish it would save the map layout as well, which is why I just made an issue on github. I really like the game “A Stranger, Unregarded” but the map issues always keep me from finishing.
We’ve thought about it, but since https://textadventures.co.uk has their own long-term community forums (which I just checked have been moved to GitHub for hosting?) and Discord channel, there’s probably not much advantage to splitting the discussion between here and there.
