Hello!

TL;DR:
A small group of friends play the text adventure Fish! by Magnetic Scrolls for the first time. If you’d like to watch us trying to solve the puzzles (and share our glee when we do!) there are the YouTube video series plus the more streamlined (much edited) audio podcast on Spotify and other streaming services - all under the DeadFleshRetro channel.

Hi Guys,

My long-time friend Chris and I were looking for a way to spend more time interacting since we don’t live near each other anymore. We hit upon the idea of playing a text adventure together since we both loved them back in the day, and we chose Fish. Then somehow we managed to sell the idea to our better halves (“why not just try it for an hour and see…?”). And then to a couple of other family members, another long-time friend, even a couple of the teenage kids!

It started as an experiment, but it turned into a wonderful highlight of our week. Every Monday evening, we’d look forward to gathering together for an hour to solve the latest Fishy puzzles.

To say this endeavour is a bit niche is an understatement! None of our Facebook friends understood what we were doing, and all of the hardcore text adventure friends had already played it before.

So in an attempt to find an audience (anyone? :slight_smile: ) I just wanted to mention it here. It really was a joy and we think it’s a good watch especially for anyone that hasn’t played through the game and therefore not shouting at the screen about how stupid we are!

Fantastic! Stefanm and I have been slowly doing the fish remaster. Sorry, this is not yet done. It’s mostly my fault otherwise you could play that version. originally I was hoping to get it done last year, and now it’s almost xmas again!

In any case, good luck with your podcast.

Nice! We actually wanted to enjoy it on a retro system for that authentic feel.

Do let us know once you’re done since we’re now very familiar with the game. Are your efforts open source?

That’s really cool! It’s one of the best IF games out there. Are you planning on playing modern IF games in the future from the community here? BTW, going to subscribe to your channel.

We’ve talked about what sorts of adventures we’d like to do in future and modern games certainly came up. We’re just feeling our way forward at the moment. Brand new adventures start this coming Monday. Hope you can join us. Fish was brilliant!
